Warming Stripes - USA 1910-2017

Oil and Wood Shims on Panel 2019

Each stripe represents a year.  The colors relate to temperature change in the US above or below the mean temperature for the century.  The warm colors are years above the mean (the highest is 3.26 F in 2012 ) and the cool colors are years below the mean ( the lowest is -1.79 F in 1917). 1934 was 2.08 F above the mean; it was a year of  Depression, drought and the Dust Bowl.
